Small Town Adventures by Peggy Gilles

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

I moved to the Leeds Grenville area from Ottawa in 2006 because my first grandchild was about to be born here. The first few years we commuted to Ottawa for work and then decided to heck with that and retired early. We love it here!

There is so much to do. Because we're an active outdoor family, we have easy access to kayaking, camping, hiking, boating, swimming, cycling and adventure.

I love living in a small town. There is never any traffic congestion. I can walk downtown and to the river. There are beautiful walking paths that get me everywhere I want to go.

I'm also active in our thriving yoga community. I've been so blessed to help train some of the yoga teachers who now teach here. I've travelled to India numerous times to study and practice yoga and love sharing the teachings here at home. This fall a group of students are accompanying me for the first time to experience ashram life in northern India - an adventure of a lifetime.

We also live in a great mixed neighbourhood with relaxed retired folks and busy families. Neighbours often get together for 'libations', dinner and help in the garden. And the best is that my three grandsons live right around the corner!

Brockville is a great town to retire to with easy access to Kingston, Ottawa and the US border. We love it here!
